it's okay if u havent seen deathnote and its sequel. cos u'll only be needing it for the first 5minutes of the movie. the former was focused more on the strategic/intellectual aspect. while this one has more emotional and moving sides to it. father daughter r/s. friendship. trust. and there was humour in it too! "near" is sooo cute. maki is a sweet jap sch girl. and L is so cute in a playful kinda way. (but!!! there were a few gruesome scenes. which go on and on and on) it's a really good movie. if yall havent seen it, go catch it! now! and stay till after the credits!

"Hello! God!" this mentally challenged boy (right) decided to go for brain surgery (doc=guy at left). then he became some genius. he learns that his feelings for the (fake) teacher (girl in middle) is love. and he learns how to make her smile via books/tv progs etc. but as he begins learning about life and understanding humans, he discovers that they werent as kind as he thought. ugly facades and he couldnt take the politics. (of cos) unfortunately, things werent that smooth. smth went wrong with the surgery, and he had two choices: (1) undergo surgery again to remove smth.. and become low IQ again, and he wldnt have the capacity to rmb his feelings for her, or (2) wait for death. i just love the ending!

nice korean drama! go watch it! of cos, it has its fair share of crying scenes. but its not totally over-doing at all! and very touching! the guy super sweet! :)
